2025 painting
Scale expansion and artistic autonomy
The work produced in 2025 began with an exploration of smaller-scale paintings. At the time I questioned whether the larger scale that had become characteristic of my work might limit its accessibility within the gallery context.
Although many of those smaller works were successful, the experience clarified something essential about my process. I realized that adjusting scale in response to perceived market considerations was not the direction in which the work needed to develop.
Instead, the imagery and compositional structures demanded more space rather than less. This realization led me to expand the scale of the paintings even further, opening a new sense of freedom and allowing the visual language of the work to unfold with greater clarity.
